Application of polyester fabric in life

Currently, polyester fabric is widely used in life. This is a synthetic fabric with the characteristics of anti-wrinkle, anti-mold, anti-dirt, high aesthetics and low price. Therefore, the application of polyester fabrics in life is very diverse in the garment industry, producing bedding, furniture, sportswear (beach clothes, outdoor tents, tarpaulins,…). To learn more about the functions and advantages of this fabric, let’s learn more about Viet Thang Loi:

What is Polyester Fabric?

Polyester fabric is also known as Poly fabric is a synthetic fiber derived from coal and petroleum, the main component of ethelene. Polyester is divided into 4 basic fibers including fibers, coarse fibers, filament fibers and fiberfill fibers, which share good anti-wrinkle properties. Today polyester fibers are classified into 2 main forms: Polythylene Terephthalate (PET) and poly-1, 4-cyclohexylene-dimethylene terephthalate (PCDT). And PET is most used because of its fairly high durability.

Is Polyester fabric good?

Depending on the needs of use, each fabric has different pros and cons. And it is not natural that Poly fabrics are so widely used in production. Compared to ordinary natural fabrics, polyester has many superior advantages such as not absorbing moisture but absorbing oil. It is this feature that makes them a perfect fabric for waterproof, dust-resistant and fireproof applications. Poor absorbentness helps them fight stains naturally. Polyester has very good shrinkage resistance without wrinkles when washing and is used to produce pillows, bedding, sleeping bags,…

Advantages of Polyester Fabric

Anti-wrinkle resistance

The most noticeable outstanding feature is the wrinkle resistance of polyester fabric. During use, even if there is washing for a long time, wrinkles or deformation rarely occur. So you can use them with peace of mind for a long time without worrying about the fabric being dilated or losing form.

Good water resistance

Items that require high water resistance are usually produced from polyester such as sleeping bags, jackets, tarpaulin tents,… because the characteristic of this fabric is poor moisture, easy to process or color coating without worrying about fading over time.

Easy to clean

In addition, poly substances are not capable of absorbing dirt and are very easy to clean. This is because the surface of the fabric is shiny, smooth, making the dirt impossible to stick to the fabric during use.

Especially poly fabric is considered a product for modern life because it is very easy to wash. You can wash it by hand or by machine without fear of ingging out the durability of polyester fabrics.

Impressive staining ability

Much is produced for the apparel and fashion industry. Therefore, the dyeing process becomes extremely important because it determines the aesthetics of the product. Polyester fabric allows manufacturers to stain easily, the color is dark and clear, the color standard brings optimal quality to the product. In addition, polyester also has extremely good color retention, so during the washing process, you will not have to worry about the fabric fading and soaking in other clothes.

Good insulation

Another advantage is that it also has quite good insulation and moisture resistance, so if using bedding made from this material in winter will be very warm and avoid dampness.

Cheap price

Polyester fabrics are synthesized from low-priced materials and the production process is not too complicated. Therefore, products manufactured with this material are very affordable suitable for many customer segments.

In addition, polyester fabric also has good fire resistance, safe during use.

Polyester Fabric Cons

The biggest disadvantage of diluting this fabric is quite hot. In addition, with a large thickness and weight, clothes produced with this fabric will be uncomfortable to wear, there is a more coarse and cryptic feeling of heat. The moisture grothing of the fabric is very low compared to the natural fabric, but now the manufacturer has found the moisture grothers for polyester fabrics that can be used for sportswear.

Polyester Yarn Manufacturing Process

To produce complete polyester fibers must go through 5 stages including: coincidence, drying, spinning. stretching and spinning:

Coincidence

Give 2 dimethyl terephthalate agents to react with ethylene glycol along with catalysts at a temperature of 150 – 210 degrees Celsius.

The result of this reaction is monomer, which continues to combine with terephthalic acid and increases the heat level to 280 degrees Celsius to form polyester. After that, the melted Polyester is pressed into a long strip.

Drying

Polyester long strips will be cooled until hard and cut into extremely small particles. This makes it easy to store and ensure durability for a long time.

Spinning

The small polyester fibers will then be melted at a temperature of 260 – 270 degrees Celsius, forming a thick solution and contained in a metal container or extruded fiber spray through small holes of various shapes, polygons, pentagons,…

Depending on the size of the fabric, the nozzle density varies. The fibers after spraying out twist into each other form single fibers.

During spinning, manufacturers can add more chemicals so that the fabric has more resistance to charges, fire resistance and can stain more easily.

Stretching

Polyester fibers after being spinning are very soft, so it can be stretched out a hundred times the original length. After stretching, polyester fibers have a change in diameter, length and also thickness. This is the step where manufacturers link single fibers together, creating the softness and hardness of the fabric at will.

Yarn Rolls

This is the last step in the process of creating polyester yarn, after stretching polyester is rolled into a large fiber tube and then woven into fabric.

Application of polyester fiber fabric in life

With great advantages, this fabric is applied mostly in the industrial fabric industry with many other fields such as apparel, furniture, outdoors, bedding, …

Garment industry

Polyester fabrics are an ideal choice for the garment industry because they have good durability and incredible wrinkle resistance. Polyester fabrics used to produce sportswear are often added to cotton to increase perspiration absorbability. In addition, Polyester fabric is also used to sew waterproof products such as umbrellas, tarpaulins, raincoats,… or outer covers of luggage, document bags,…

Industry

Polyester is widely used in the industry to produce various kinds of products such as industrial fabrics, materials for electrical protection, cushioning … Polyester yarn has many advantages over traditional fibers thanks to its non-moisturizing characteristics that make it difficult for fabrics to get dirty (such as mud), antibacterial and dust resistant. Polyester fabric also easily catches dyeing colors and is not ruined by mold.

Bedding

Polyester fabric is also an effective insulation material, so it is used to produce pillows, blankets, cushions,…. As well as sportswear, polyester fabrics applied in the bedding industry are often added cotton fibers to increase sweat absorbability.

Sportswear

In addition to the above applications, sportswear made from polyester is also a great choice. Sportswear with the most perfect material is synthetic fabric from cotton is polyester. Originally a fabric with high durability, but the absorbability of polyester is limited, it only separates oil from the body, not waterproof, which can make your body become more “smelly” when practicing. Polyester when combined with cotton will create a great material. Because cotton with good absorbent ability and softness along with the quite good elasticity of polyester will surely give you the most comfortable feeling when practicing.

Production of travel sleeping bags

Most of the exterior surfaces of sleeping bags on the market today are usually made from Polyester material. Picnic bags used outdoors often focus on waterproofness, so Polyester is a material that perfectly meets this. Thanks to polyester’s superior waterproofing, you can rest assured when using sleeping bags outdoors.
